Completely renovated in the 19th century, the house at rue Payenne was built in the 17th century by the architect François Mansart for himself, where he died in 1666. In 1842, the house was raised by Antoine Bret, a jeweler. Clotilde de Vaux, muse and inspiration of the philosopher Auguste Comte, rented an apartment there before her death in 1846.
